Dana White taking Power Slap to YouTube after $76M | Sports News

UFC CEO Dana White has announced an enormous $76 million deal which will see Power Slap contests broadcast live on YouTube. The sports industries tycoon struck an agreement with new partners Vechain – a public blockchain platform – as the slap fighting promotion company embarks on a new chapter.

Following its establishment back in 2022, Power Slap was first broadcast on TBS during its first series before being brought to a worldwide audience via the Rumble platform. Now, viewers will be able to watch the Power Slap 12 spectacle from Las Vegas free of charge on YouTube on March 7.

Cryptocurrency firm VeChain has paid a staggering $76 million to embark on a partnership with White’s promotion, with Rumble previously having paid a reported $30 million-a-year for broadcasting rights. VeChain has signed a deal with Power Slap for the next six years, as per Forbes.

Speaking to the publication, founder and executive producer White welcomed the news of the new agreement with VecHAIN as he looked forward to events being broadcast on YouTube. He said: “I wanted to let everyone know that Vechain is the new title partner of Power Slap.

“Vechain will power Power Slap events, they are a world-leading public blockchain platform, and for the first time ever, I’m happy to announce that Power Slap events will be live and free on YouTube.”

After taking this decision to sign a deal with the cryptocurrency giants, White explained the reasoning behind deciding to make the move to YouTube. Speaking with confidence, the businessman said: “You know who I like to bet on? Me.”

Predicting that the agreement will enable Power Slap to secure further success moving forward, he continued: “At the end of the day, this thing was built on the internet. I already know the sport works; now it’s about delivering it to as many eyeballs as possible.

“I don’t like to have to answer to anybody. We built the business however we see fit. We do whatever the f— we want.”

Speaking in a statement issued on the Power Slap website, White later hailed the deal, saying: “Throughout my whole career, I’ve had this vision of putting on the right fight, at the right time, when the whole world could watch it live on the same channel.

“Slap is a global phenomenon built on the internet. In just two years, our social platforms have attracted over 22 million followers, and our content has accumulated more than 13 billion views. Now with VeChain’s support, we are going to take this sport to another level!”
