A widower who misplaced their husband in a devastating car crash has urged Labour to introduce a new rule that might have an effect on all drivers, together with older motorists. Campaigners said that introducing new checks on older drivers “will make the road safer for everyone,” together with motorcyclists, pedestrians and car customers.
A Department for Transport (DfT) spokesperson told Express.co.uk: “This was a tragic incident, and our thoughts are with Ian’s loved ones.
“We know driving is important for older people’s independence, however this should be balanced with security. All drivers have a legal duty to report medical situations to the DVLA.”
