Dave Portnoy turns on Donald Trump, claims he lost – Sports News
Barstool CEO Dave Portnoy is mostly sympathetic in direction of US President Donald Trump, having voted for the republican candidate within the latest election.

“I’ve been trying to understand them,” Portnoy continued. “I don’t. Like it’s more of a trade deficit tariff. To me, like, hey, we get this much **** from you, and you get this much from up. Let’s even that up. Let’s get some wacky formula, do tariffs. And everything’s in the ****** because of it.”
In early March, Portnoy revealed that someone in the United States Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick’s team contacted him about a potential position in his department.
“I got a call, I dunno, a couple of months ago… and it was like ‘Hey would you have any interest, Dave, in joining the dept of commerce under Lutnick,” Portnoy shared, providing a reason why he declined: “They were like but a caveat of joining the government is somebody would have to run Barstool.”
Even after losing millions of dollars, the Barstool CEO still admitted he had faith in both Trump and Lutnick’s policies. “I voted for Trump. I think Trump’s a smart guy,” he added. “You may not love him, I think he’s smart.
“Howard Lutnick, I think he’s smart. I think they’re smarter than me when it comes to these tariffs. I also think he’s playing a high-stakes game here,” he continued.
