Many blamed the governor. Newsom took to social media to wash his arms of the scandal:

“Notably, the law had no exceptions for violent sex offenders. Not even for child rape, forceful sexual penetration, or sodomy by force,” Melugin famous.

Republicans have tried to amend the law, however as a result of Democrats maintain a supermajority in each homes of the legislature, the GOP’s adjustments went nowhere.

In this case, Democrats held up amendments as a result of, they mentioned, it could value more to keep criminals in jail for his or her full sentences.

The imminent release of David Allen Funston is a shame — for which Newsom solely has himself, and his occasion, to blame.
