On Tuesday, the FDA recognized the recall as a Class I state of affairs, that means “there is a reasonable probability that the use of, or exposure to, a violative product will cause serious adverse health consequences or death.”

That risk comes from the blueberries’ potential contamination with listeria – a micro organism that may trigger gentle signs like fever, muscle aches, nausea and vomiting, however in more extreme and doubtlessly life-threatening circumstances could cause convulsions, stiff neck and confusion.

Newborns, seniors, pregnant girls and people with weakened immune systems are particularly weak to the illness, in keeping with the FDA – which added that anybody with signs ought to instantly contact their physician.
