Liberal: Wake up, Dems!

They embrace “the dirty little secret” that the Democrats’ present coalition is “extremely well-engineered for low turnout elections,” the “comfort food of thermostatic reaction against the GOP” and the undeniable fact that Dems “do not consider cultural issues,” like gender extremism, to be “real issues.”
No marvel “the concept that Democrats have delusions about their current situation — that they are in denial about the implications of the 2024 election and other trends — is having a moment.” And “their delusions, it is likely, will prove quite difficult to get rid of.”

“This GOP Congress is effusive in its praise of Elon Musk’s effort to cut waste and fraud,” thunders The Wall Street Journal’s Kimberley A. Strassel, however that’s simply “words, words, words” till “their blab becomes a plan.”

Luckily, “A handful of Senate Republicans have a plan for that, and the ear of Donald Trump.”
Led by Sen. Ron Johnson, they need a “formal process” to get spending to “prepandemic levels.”
The fundamental thought? “A review panel — populated by a representative span of GOP House and Senate members and the president’s budget team” would review “the budget line-by-line” and discover cuts.
“The plan would take political will — the Trump team and GOP leadership would need to commit fully.”
So “bring on ‘one big, beautiful, budget committee.’”
Conservative: Liberals vs. the Constitution

All too many say “the Constitution itself is a threat and that the legal system has been corrupted by oligarchs, white supremacists, or reactionaries.”

Libertarian: Take Back Tariff Power
After President Trump “made good on his promise to impose tariffs on nearly every nation,” Reason’s Joe Lancaster flags the “small but growing bipartisan movement in the U.S. Senate to narrow or undo Trump’s tariffs.”
Led by Sen. Rand Paul, the Senate handed a decision “that would undo tariffs Trump had previously imposed on Canada.”
Reason’s Eric Boehm praised Rand’s decision as “the first serious attempt by Congress at limiting the president’s ability to smash free trade.”
However, notes Lancaster, Congress for many years has “repeatedly abdicated its powers to the executive branch — including the power to impose tariffs.”
Today, “Senators like Paul, [Tim] Kaine, [Chuck] Grassley, and [Maria] Cantwell should be lauded for their efforts to claw back their constitutionally appropriated power of the purse.”
From the proper: No Reckoning on Joe’s Decline
“There was never a real reckoning with Biden’s condition and all the false statements his representatives and defenders and supporters had made,” nevertheless it would possibly “be starting,” observes the Washington Examiner’s Byron York.
“A new book, titled ‘Fight: Inside the Wildest Battle for the White House’” reveals “that top Democrats, many of whom vouched for Biden in public,” knew “what bad shape he was in,” and that Reps. Nancy Pelosi and James Clyburn and different Biden insiders selected to watch the June debate alone as a result of they feared it “would turn into a disaster.”
The anecdotes “add to the confirmation of what we already know.” But the query stays: Will Biden’s defenders in his social gathering and the media ever “admit what they did and explain why they did it”?
