Riccardo Piatti, the esteemed coach who steered Jannik Sinner‘s rise from a promising teenager to a tennis powerhouse, has damaged his silence on their much-talked-about break up. In a heartfelt dialog with Corriere della Sera, Piatti delved into the tip of their seven-year journey collectively, which concluded when Sinner was simply 20, shedding mild on the components that led to their skilled breakup.

Piatti, who took Sinner beneath his wing at 13, confessed that the breakup threw him into disarray. “After Jannik, I admit I had a few months of confusion,” he mentioned. “I stopped living the life of others – 52 weeks a year on the road, family revolving around the player’s needs.”

At 66, the seasoned coach candidly mentioned the explanations for his or her break up. “He had a grudge against me for things on the pitch,” Piatti acknowledged. “It’s a normal dynamic between coach and player. I always wanted Jannik to be independent; I knew that one day, he would leave. But with him, I had to be a strict, sometimes rigid coach – that was my role.”

Piatti stays firm in his teaching philosophy, asserting that his stringent strategies have been important. “Yes. It was the only way to get to the top,” he mentioned.

Piatti’s rigorous method reaped vital rewards. Under his mentorship, Sinner reworked from a hopeful junior into a big-stage contender and captured three main titles.

Despite their professional split, Piatti is unwavering in his faith in Sinner’s abilities. With Sinner now coachless and poised for a comeback after three months away due to the Clostebol case, Piatti anticipates a powerful return.

Years have passed since parting ways with Sinner, and Piatti has found tranquility.
