Great White fell over and nearly landed on his jockey because the horse approached the gates for the 152nd operating of the Kentucky Derby.

For his part, Ortiz described securing his first Kentucky Derby victory as a “dream come true.

“This is the biggest race in the world for me,” an emotional Ortiz stated, tears rolling down his cheeks. “And I’m just blessed that I get to ride it almost every year, but get to win it, it’s just special.
