Brandon Jones’ evening at Bristol Motor Speedway could have come to an abrupt finish largely due to the actions of Frankie Muniz – but the 28-year-old couldn’t help but feel unhealthy for the Hollywood star following Friday’s NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race.

In Stage 1 of the Weather Guard Truck Race, Ty Majeski was trying to lap Muniz when he slammed into the rear of the No. 33 Ford driver and precipitated him to spin out. The defending champion appeared to misjudge the place the rookie was on monitor – considering that he was on the skin lane when in actuality he was working on the inside lane for your entire race.

Upon making contact, Muniz and Majeski’s vans got here to a halt on the heart of the monitor with their driver-side home windows going through each other. Brandon Jones and Stewart Friesen have been unable to keep away from the carnage, leading to a four-truck pileup.

Speaking to reporters following the race, Jones surprisingly rushed to the protection of Muniz – who beforehand demanded that his fellow drivers show him more respect – conceding that he understands why the 39-year-old is struggling within the early levels of his motorsports profession.

“Half of me sort of feels for him, because who’s there to help him?” Jones mentioned. “Nobody. It’s him trying to figure it out on his own. I’ve got plenty of people in my corner helping me prepare for these races, and it’s him vs. him. But on the flip side, you’re at the top level, man, so … you need people helping you to make those decisions. I’m sure no one on the spotter’s stand helped him. I’m sure no one in the pit box helped him.”

Given the truth that drivers weren’t allowed to run one apply lap earlier than Friday’s race started, Jones insisted that Muniz was by no means given a truthful shot to succeed. “We spray PJ1 on the racetrack, we don’t practice, we don’t qualify with all the rain that came in, and then it’s drop the green flag, you’ve got to figure it out,” he added.

“I’ve been coming here for 11 years now, so I know exactly where to be and where to place my truck, but if it’s [the] first time or second, or whatever it is, he’s probably looking into turn 1 thinking, ‘Where the heck do I go?’”

Majeski moreover acknowledged the robust place that Muniz has been positioned in, but requested the ‘Malcolm within the Middle’ star to be more predictable whereas on the monitor. “You know, he talked about wanting to earn all of our respect earlier on in the year in some of the races, I think Daytona [International Speedway] and Atlanta [Motor Speedway] … it’s a tough spot,” Majeski mentioned of Muniz. “He’s got his own race out there, too. You can’t (say), ‘Hey, get out of our way,’ that’s not right either.

“I think if there was just a little bit more predictability in what some of these guys were going to do as lapped trucks … he’s talking earlier in the year about earning our respect. We’re not asking you to get out of the way, we’re just asking you to be predictable.”
