Kyle Busch publicly calls out NASCAR as rival | Sports News

Kyle Busch has torn into NASCAR officials and claimed they’re not applying the rules fairly after an incident in Sunday’s race.

Busch, who finished in fifth place at the EchoPark Automotive Grand Prix at COTA, was left furious after a crash involving Austin Cindric. During Sunday’s race, Cindric found himself involved in an incident with Ty Dillon, allegedly right-hooking him.

While it wasn’t clear whether the move was intentional or not, NASCAR officials apparently deemed there was no intent from the Team Penske driver/part-owner. Cindric escaped with a penalty of 50 driver points and a $50,000 fine.

But that penalty seemed light to some, including Busch, who wanted Cindric to be hit with a suspension for his actions. Speaking on Sirius FM, Busch explained his viewpoint.

“I think intent is intent,” he said.”I do not agree with the call there. I don’t care where it is — Daytona, Martinsville, Watkins Glen and it’s not his first time either. He got off with that one.”

“I can’t agree with the decision. I’ve been in a similar spot before, and I was suspended. It seems like the punishment depends on your surname.”

Despite Busch not being happy with NASCAR officials, Dale Earnhardt Jr explained things from the opposite point of view, explaining he could understand why the decision was made.

“NASCAR’s decision-making is not as simple as black and white or yes and no,” he said. “They’ve never followed such a simplistic approach. I’m not criticizing NASCAR, but they’ll flag something that requires a flag. The same incident might not be flagged if it happened 10 laps into the race instead of with 10 laps to go.”

Busch wasn’t the only person unhappy with Cindric, as Ty Dillon explained: “He wrecked me intentionally, just like Chase, Denny, and Bubba’s incidents. He should be suspended next week.”

As it turns out, Cindric will be free to race this coming weekend, and will line up for the Shriners Children’s 500 at the Phoenix Raceway.
