“I enjoyed it a lot. And yeah, I think like I say, it’s something that makes it clear in my head what the ultimate goal is to obviously step into that race seat at some point in the future.”

Chadwick is the reserve driver for Genesis Magma Racing. The Brit will likely be on standby and is treating the expertise as a good time to soak up data and expertise. “Obviously, more often than not, you are on standby, you’re not racing, but you do obviously need to be ready for that. But on occasion that something does happen,” the Bath-born racing star continued.

“Yeah, I’ve been really fortunate, I got a few laps in the car last Sunday during the test, so that’s massively helped to be honest. So if I were to jump in, I obviously have familiarity with the car at this track, which isn’t something to overlook too much, because it’s the first time the team is coming to Le Mans and the first time I’m driving the hypercar there.

“So that’s obviously helping a lot, and then I’m across everything else, the meetings that they have. Obviously, it’s a new team, so everything is constantly evolving and changing and developing, so being across all of that, every change that if I were to jump in, I’m not up to speed with anything.

“So yeah, I mean, I’m enjoying it. I mean, the good thing for me is even though the role is like a reserve at the moment, my ultimate goal is to step into that race seat at some point, so everything I’m learning now and being a sponge to is beneficial to me in the future.”

Outside of her own racing exploits, Chadwick is seeking to make a long-lasting affect with the following era of aspiring feminine racing drivers. Chadwick grew up impressed by the likes of Susie Wolff and Danica Patrick.

She has launched the Jamie Chadwick Series — an all-female grassroots karting championship within the U.Ok. in partnership with Daytona Motorsport. “I think we started it in the hope just to try and encourage more young girls into the sort of grassroots level of the sport as possible,” Chadwick stated.

“Really, it’s just targeting those that have never tried the sport before, want to experience it in a safe environment, where they can go and learn and explore what motorsport’s all about. And, yeah, I’ve been really stunned by the uptake that we had.”

Chadwick says they’ve seen an explosion in participation. “In the first year, I think it was a 1,900 percent increase in participation in female talent in karting, which is incredible. And, yeah, these are numbers we love to hear,” Chadwick stated.

“I think that’s kind of been the highlight for me, hearing kind of the increase, but also when you go to the races, seeing how many people are enjoying it and wanting to progress in the sport and have progressed in the sport.

“There are many drivers who have come through the series. A few have already reached the F4 level. And, yeah, I think that’s the most exciting thing, just seeing this progression.”
