A beloved Denny’s in San Diego’s Point Loma neighborhood has completely closed after practically six many years in business, leaving longtime prospects mourning the loss of what many known as a neighborhood establishment.
The information got here as a shock to locals who headed to the beloved diner final week on the nook of Rosecrans and Jarvis Street once they have been met with locked doorways and closed indicators.
“It’s been here as long as I have,” long-time resident Ed Baier advised CBS 8, calling the Denny’s, which had been open since 1966, a staple assembly place locally that bridged generations of households.
While the Rosecrans location is gone, diners in search of a Grand Slam are being redirected to go to a close by Denny’s on West Point Loma Boulevard, which stays open. Google Maps

For many, the closure marks the top of many years of reminiscences.
“I’m bummed,” buyer Kate Yamashiro advised the station. “My softball team came here in high school. I have some good memories, and it’s sad to see it closing.”
“It’s not about the food, it’s the memories,” one other commented on Facebook. “It’s tradition for our high school marching band kids to meet there for breakfast before their tournaments.”
The writing had been on the wall for a couple of months although. The half-acre lot had quietly been up for lease since April, based on real estate brochures. Realtors are actively in search of one other restaurant to maneuver in to the space now.

The closure comes as Denny’s is trimming its national footprint. The chain beforehand introduced plans to shutter up to 150 beneath performing areas in an effort to improve profitability.
