Drivers have been warned to keep away from using a sure machine on long street journeys to keep away from placing themselves and others at risk of collisions and eye-watering fines.

Whilst long street journeys may be a notably tense expertise, particularly during a public vacation such because the Easter weekend, carmats4u.com has urged drivers to keep away from the temptation of vaping on the transfer.

Jamie Barke, Managing Director of carmats4u.com, steered that motorists who vape behind the wheel might be charged with driving with out due care and consideration.

He defined: “Despite the many positive health and environmental benefits associated with the June 1 2025 ban on single-use vapes, motorists who regularly vape in their cars should be made aware of the potential risks of switching to a reusable and refillable device.

“It states in part three of the Road Traffic Act that driving a mechanically propelled vehicle on a street or public place with out ‘due care and attention’, or with out cheap consideration for different individuals using the street or place, means they’re guilty of an offence.”

The Road Traffic Act highlighted that motorists could be prosecuted if anything, including vapour, obscures the driver’s view of the road.

This is a particular issue for reusable vape devices, which can produce thicker clouds that block the windscreen and rear-view mirror, giving drivers significantly less time to react to sudden scenarios they are approaching.

As a result, motorists caught with a blocked view of the road caused by vaping could risk fines of up to £5,000 and nine penalty points on their licence – which could, in turn, increase the cost of car insurance.

Jamie also highlighted that the various settings found on vape devices could cause drivers to get distracted from the roads, also resulting in longer reaction times and the risk of further financial penalties.

He added: “The handbook changes usually discovered on reusable vape units, resembling wattage settings, airflow and temperature controls can more simply draw a motorists consideration away from the street.

“What’s more, these heavier, bulkier products often require regular tank refilling or coil changes, tempting some drivers to carry out these tasks while on the move.”
