Some agitators in Oakland dislike their metropolis’s neighbor, Piedmont. The latter is simply too white, too wealthy — and for these causes, too annoying.

So they’ve referred to as for the cancellation of the unbiased, included metropolis with 11,000 residents.
Cue the clown music.

Where would the people of Piedmont go, if town had been canceled?
No one, least of all of the agitators –– led by Oakland advocate and transit planner Jesse Rosemoore — appears sure.
But nonetheless. Rosemoore & Co. can’t stand a genteel, affluent, law-abiding neighbor. Apparently, they’d want to stay subsequent to a basket case.
Smart.

But significantly, why not look to orderly, well-governed Piedmont for inspiration, somewhat than with envy?
Oh, proper. It’s simpler to grandstand and demonize a profitable neighbor than it’s to reform Oakland — which suffers from a vary of woes together with blight, homelessness and abysmal native governance. (Former Oakland Mayor Sheng Thao was recalled by voters in 2024 and faces federal corruption fees.)
It nearly looks as if Rosemore et al. need to pull Piedmont into related dysfunction in a “misery loves company” type of factor.
That is the logical conclusion of the class-envy “equity” rhetoric: Agony for everybody.
If the left in California desires to be taken significantly, it wants critical people with critical concepts — not abject lunacy.
The agitators may drop the silliness and focus consideration on one thing constructive.
But then, who would buy the T-shirts?
