The Issue: Calls by artificial-intelligence doomsayers for regulation of the technology.

It’s official: AI is the new COVID that’s going to kill you (“Alarmist Dems are at it ag‘ai’n,” Miranda Devine, Sept. 14).

Democrats have seemingly latched onto artificial intelligence to scare the common man earlier than the midterm elections. The left has to make you afraid of one thing, to allow them to control you.

Mike Holland

Naples, Fla.

I agree that we need to gradual down artificial intelligence — what can we even need it for (“ ‘Open’ to slowdown,” Sept. 12)?

Huge information facilities are storing everybody’s info. Students, academics and health-care suppliers are utilizing AI to cross exams. Flock cameras are spying on Americans. These are simply a few the explanation why we must always halt artificial intelligence.

At best, it’s being utilized in lieu of people pondering and problem-solving. At worst, it will probably rapidly get out of hand and probably destroy civilization.

Steve Preziosa Sr.

Deptford, NJ

With requires President Trump to deal with AI, I’m reminded of the identical strategy many took to advocate for climate change.

We can’t overlook that whereas we regulate AI and climate change, our adversaries reminiscent of China do and won’t. If AI is so highly effective, shouldn’t we wish to exploit it and keep China and others from probably ruling the world?

Brice Russell

Naples, Fla.

Now that the climate and COVID crises have light, Democrats have to be thrilled with the newest existential risk du jour, artificial intelligence.

Imagine all of the fraud Ilhan Omar’s constituents can perpetrate. The scale of the graft would make “Feeding Our Future” appear to be a lot chicken feed.

If they reach shutting down AI, how will we reply when China unleashes its pirated model upon us?

James Evans

Worcester, Mass.

AI goes to destroy mankind if we don’t act now, based on faux information, simply because the midterms not far away. This is one other nothing-burger like Y2K.

Thomas De Julio

Delray Beach, Fla.

Yes, AI will decide that we people are destroying the Earth, so its superintelligence will result in eliminating us in an effort to save the planet.

Let’s keep AI going full drive to save lots of the planet from us people. Didn’t the dinosaurs give up their place for us, after all? Or possibly we must always attempt to control each AI and people’ damaging tendencies.

Eric Marberblatt

Boston, Mass.

The Issue: Months of New York Times protection after Oct. 7, 2023, that downplayed Hamas’ violence.

It seems to be like historical past is repeating itself at The New York Times (“Gray Lady Gaza ‘bias,’ ” Sept. 14).

Back during World War II, the Times appeared to be pro-Nazi. Now it appears to be pro-Hamas.

Yet the Times has been owned by a Jewish household. Must be the Soros impact.

John Ketelsen

Ocean, NJ

While the evaluation of New York Times articles since Oct. 7, 2023, reveals clear anti-Israel bias, this was already evident from a number of high-profile articles during that span.

On July 25, 2025, the Times printed a front-page image of a seemingly starved Palestinian little one and falsely blamed Israel. The little one had a genetic dysfunction.

When Hamas launched images and videos of a starved and emaciated Israeli hostage being compelled to dig his own grave, the Times ran a picture of protesters in Tel Aviv calling for a cease-fire.

Finally, Times information tales by no means point out that Israel repeatedly provided Palestinians a state born in peace, which they violently rejected, or that the people of Gaza elected Hamas in 2006.

Stephen Silver

San Francisco, Calif.
