Mercedes-Benz plans to start producing a new vehicle at its plant close to Tuscaloosa, Ala., in 2027, the company stated Thursday, the most recent in a sequence of investments carmakers have introduced following President Trump’s aggressive auto tariffs.

Trump’s 25% levies on automotive imports have rocked the worldwide automotive industry, though this week he provided a reprieve on some components of the tariffs.
An evaluation launched by the Center for Automotive Research in early April discovered that the 25% auto tariffs would increase prices by about $108 billion for automakers in the US in 2025.
Hyundai, GM and different automakers have boosted US output or introduced investments in response to the levies.

The company’s Alabama plant at present produces the GLE, GLS, GLE Coupe, Mercedes-Maybach GLS, in addition to the EQE SUV, EQS SUV, and Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV for all world markets.
