Joey Logano brutally puts down Chipper Jones over | Sports News

Joey Logano had a sturdy response to Chipper Jones after the latter criticized the previous for his actions at Talladega. 

During the Jack Link’s 500, Logano blasted his teammate Austin Cindric for permitting Bubba Wallace to win Stage 2, with the three-time champion calling Cindric a “dumb f—.” The race went from unhealthy to worse for Logano, who watched Cindric win at Talladega after which discovered he had been disqualified as a result of of a rear-spoiler infraction. 

After listening to Logano’s tirade geared toward his teammate, Jones, the Atlanta Braves and MLB legend, took to social media to speak about how “karma” acquired him. “Some people are ‘hooray for our team as long as I’m the star’ as every team has them,” Jones wrote. “Hendrick, RCR, JGR, Penske, etc. Sometimes karma is glorious. Enjoy this one! In case anyone is confused, lemme be clear….@joeylogano.”

In response to Jones’ post, the 34-year-old shared his side of the situation and believed that the MLB legend’s critiques are unwarranted. Logano also stated that he only cares about certain opinions if they “actually know them they usually know you,” and how fans have opinions when they are looking from the outside in. 

“No one else, nobody, Chipper Jones, no race fans, nobody is in the room when we come up with how we’re going to race at superspeedways except the drivers, the team principals at Penske and the crew chiefs,” he said on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio. “That is it. That’s the only opinions that matter. The only ones.

“So everyone can go off and talk about whatever they want. They don’t know the situation. They don’t know everything that goes into it, so it doesn’t matter what they say, and that’s probably why I never saw [Jones’ comments] or really care about it after you tell me right now.

“Chipper Jones, he seems like a cool dude, he’s done a lot, right? He’s a pretty popular, good baseball player, but he’s not a race car driver, and I know he wasn’t in the room with us when we set in place the way things are supposed to go.”

Additionally, Logano expressed his disappointment with how Jones failed to give the NASCAR star grace regarding the situation, especially since Jones himself was a professional athlete who knows the intricacies of his sport and what teams discuss before every game. 

He added: “You would think somebody that has been in professional sports and has been in meetings like that would probably take a step back and say, ‘Man, there’s probably more to the story here than what there is.’ I’m surprised it went that way. Maybe he was just bored. I don’t know what his situation is. I tell you I don’t care.”

Jones’ feedback and Logano’s response to these feedback come after the NASCAR champion lambasted Cindric during the Jack Link’s 500. Speaking to his crew, an irate Logano stated: “Way to go, Austin. Way to go you dumb f—. Way to f—— go. What a stupid s—. God. He just gave it to him. Gave a Toyota the stage win. Nice job. Way to go. What a dumb— … Put that in his freaking notes and text it to us.”

In response, Cindric instructed his crew: “That was all I could do not to wreck Joey. … I was obviously trying to stay there, I was trying not to wreck everybody.” Cindric had the final chortle, successful the Jack Link’s 500, whereas Logano stated he would settle for his disqualification for the infraction.

“The penalty hurts,” Logano told reporters after the fact. “There’s no doubt. It’s a 41-point penalty. That’s the way I look at it… not to mention the financial impact from finishing fifth to last. There’s a pretty big impact there. Then the image of it isn’t good either, so you’ve got to navigate that too. It’s not ideal.”
