Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent on Sunday dismissed Moody’s downgrade of the US sovereign credit score, saying President Trump’s administration would guarantee US financial growth outpaced its debt.
“I don’t put much credence in the Moody’s” downgrade, Bessent mentioned on CNN’s “State of the Union” program.
Bessent mentioned the tax-cut invoice being debated in Congress would spur financial growth that may outpace what the nation owed.

Moody’s on Friday cut the US credit score by one notch, citing rising debt and curiosity funds that outpace these of equally rated sovereigns, in a transfer that marks the tip of an period as Moody’s was the final main company to keep up a triple-A score for US sovereign debt.
