Pro-death insanity

As the mud actually clears from the Palm Springs terrorist blast on May 17, we will see yet one more instance of the plague of insanity that’s sweeping not solely our society however the world (“ ‘Pro-death’ bomber,” May 19).

A new Ted Kaczynski-like social psychotic has crawled forth from the pseudo-academic ideological swamp to do his hurt.

As Kaczinski raged towards fashionable technology, Guy Edward Bartkus raged towards life itself. Why? Because life brings with it struggling and eventual death. Clearly, the “joy and happiness” half didn’t determine in Bartkus’ estimations.

His thought was that the unborn in addition to the unconceived have a proper to consent to their births and conceptions. And he was prepared to be martyred to vindicate that proper. From what gap can such insanity emerge?

There appears to be a social contagion of such insanity sweeping people up. I believe it’s rooted in a hyper-narcissism that’s more and more indulged by our society.

Anti-Israel NYU

It is solely outrageous that New York University allowed graduation speaker Logan Rozos to complete his divisive anti-Israel speech (“Grad goes off script,” May 18).

It is even more outrageous that some of the school on the dais rose to applaud him even after he sat down.

Therein lies the issue. These younger, impressionable minds are being taught in a supposedly elite college by a bunch of biased, incompetent idiots who must be let go.

Last yr, I had the privilege of attending my granddaughter’s NYU commencement, and the then-grad speaker made a very comparable anti-Israel diatribe and was allowed to complete and applauded, a lot to our disgust and dismay.

My household and I, together with about 30 others, made a assertion by strolling out within the center. Will NYU ever study and put a stop to this inexcusable, disgusting conduct?

Babbitt payout

There’s one factor all of us need to recollect concerning the tragic death of Ashli Babbitt (“$5M to kin of Babbitt,” May 20).

The Jan. 6 revolt wasn’t attributable to Lt. Michael Byrd or any of the opposite courageous police officers who had been defending the Capitol that day.

It was attributable to President Trump, who inspired his far-right supporters to storm the Capitol in an effort to stop the so-called “stolen” election.

Therefore, if anybody ought to pay the $5 million to the household of Ms. Babbitt — an Iraqi conflict veteran — it must be Trump and his far-right supporters.

Minneapolis’ ache

After studying the story on the aftermath Minneapolis is dealing with, I used to be heartbroken (“Time hasn’t healed his wound,” May 17).

We all, no matter what race, agreed that what occurred to George Floyd was a heinous and severe crime. However, to depart the town of Minneapolis in whole disarray is a shame.

Protesters from throughout entered that metropolis and destroyed it. The residents had been left in a burned-downed, looted and chaotic state of affairs. Some residents had been killed or overwhelmed.

The Floyd household was rightly compensated; Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation bought money, too.

The metropolis bought money to rebuild, which residents say they haven’t seen. Everyone is sitting fairly, besides the people of Minneapolis. They are dropping their companies and their properties. So very unhappy.

Lorraine Fittipaldi, Apollo Beach, Fla.
