Kyle Larson was primed to race the Adelaide Grand Final of Australian Supercars racing simply a week after the top of the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series season.
Less than two weeks after his attempt at “Double Duty” turned to double bother by crashing in each the Indianapolis 500 and the Coca-Cola 600 on the identical day, the previous Cup Series winner has backed out of his Australian dedication.

Shane van Gisbergen is one of the best Supercars drivers of all time, capturing the championship three times before moving to America in 2023. He was victorious in his first Cup Series race stateside, the 2023 Chicago Street Race.
“Obviously, I would not expect to run very good because Shane van Gisbergen, he came in [to NASCAR] and kicked all of our butts,” Larson said of his expectation for the level of competitiveness in Australia. “So I know these Australian racers and Supercars drivers are extremely good. So I would not be surprised to run last.”
