Jannik Sinner emerged victorious at Wimbledon, claiming his first title on the prestigious event and his fourth Grand Slam total. Just 5 weeks after a heart-wrenching loss to Carlos Alcaraz within the French Open final, the place he squandered three championship factors, the world No. 1 exacted candy revenge with a dominant 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 triumph on Centre Court.

In a gracious victory speech, the Italian champion humorously acknowledged his opponent, inflicting Alcaraz to burst into laughter as he referenced the Spaniard’s earlier Wimbledon wins.

During his post-match interview with Annabel Croft, Sinner took the chance to commend Alcaraz: “Hello everyone. First of all, I would like to start with Carlos, again, amazing tournament but mostly thank you for the player you are.”

“It’s so difficult to play against you but we have, as you said, an amazing relationship off the court, and on the court we just try to build up and for doing that we need the best teams in the world and also you have the best team.

“So keep going, keep pushing, you will maintain many, many occasions this trophy, you could have already two, so!”

Alcaraz, a two-time winner at Wimbledon who hadn’t lost a match at the venue since Sinner defeated him in the fourth round the previous year, couldn’t help but laugh at the light-hearted jab.

Sinner was in high spirits, cracking jokes and even playfully ribbing his brother for showing up to watch him play because there was no Formula 1 race. The world No. 1 quipped: “It’s so particular as a result of seeing my dad and mom right here, my brother, my entire group, it is wonderful. He also reflected on his heart-wrenching defeat at the Roland Garros final five weeks earlier, where Alcaraz overcame three championship points to win in an epic five-hour and 29-minute battle.
