“I would have never thought that one day could change so much, emotion wise, and then happiness and then delusions, because in Paris it was very, very tough to go away from Paris with these feelings. And this makes it even more special this time.”
When questioned about his emotional state after the match, the Italian participant confessed: “Yeah, I nearly cried. Not cried, but nearly. But no, I always say Wimbledon is the tournament. There is a lot of history as we can see, and ready to walk on and it’s very special. And winning there today was truly, I believe, the most special moment of my life on a tennis court. Obviously off the court, health and everything is much more important. But yeah, today, it was amazing.”
