American tennis star Danielle Collins make clear her harrowing run-in with a cameraman who tried to forcibly kiss her.

Over the years, Collins has gotten into a number of heated spats with members of the media en route to garnering a fame for being a “villain” in the game. Back in May, she accosted a digital camera operator for performing ‘wildly inappropriate’ on the WTA occasion in Strasbourg.

“And I, I look at my coach, I’m like, ‘Uh, sure.’ So I’m like, standing like this, and he goes in to hug me, and then all of a sudden he goes in to kiss me and I’m like, ‘Oh no, oh my gosh.’

“And he literally starts making out with a side of my face. So, yeah, people don’t see that like behind the scenes. They don’t hear the comments that sometimes people make towards you, they don’t see the weird men that show up to our events and stalk us and follow us to our hotels. And so, yeah, sometimes you get to a boiling point.”

Earlier this year, Collins butted heads with another cameraman while facing off against Emma Raducanu at the Internationaux de Strasbourg. During a stoppage in play, the 31-year-old shouted at the individual for getting too close to her.

“I need to get water. We’re on a changeover,” she could be heard saying on the broadcast. “You don’t need to be that close to me, and you don’t need to be on top of Emma. It’s wildly inappropriate. It’s not that difficult to give space, I’m sorry.”

Given her tendency to openly speak her mind, Collins conceded that the media at times has covered her in a “misogynistic” way. “When somebody says that, ‘Danielle Collins is a b—-,’ I kind of just take it as a compliment because so many of the women that I love and respect have been labeled as a ‘b—-,’ and they’re a bad— woman,” she defined. “There are women that get s— done.
