Dunne said that she had to skip things like pool days with friends, family vacations, proms, and field trips. She explained: “It was give and take, but it was very rewarding doing what I did and being able to compete for the United States, that’s a really cool thing I get to say I did.”
The athlete announced her retirement from the sport earlier this year. In April, she shared a video on social media looking back at her career highlights, and said in a voice over: “Finishing my career over the last five years at the best university in the world has been an incredible journey, and I’m forever grateful.
