US regulators probe over 137,000 Kia vehicles – Business News

US regulators on Friday opened an investigation into more than 137,000 Kia vehicles to judge how efficient a recall treatment was for faulty oil piston rings.

Kia in February launched a recall of 137,256 vehicles, together with 2021-2023 Seltos and Soul fashions, over considerations the piston oil rings might need been incorrectly manufactured.

Defective piston oil rings might injury the engine over time and increase the risk of a fire.

In April, the carmaker made accessible a recall treatment that included inspecting the vehicle to see whether or not an engine substitute was vital. 

But the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration stated it reviewed 47 complaints that alleged the recall treatment was ineffective or unavailable. 

The audit will examine Kia’s treatment measures as flagged within the complaints, which had been obtained between April to June of this 12 months.
