Bryson DeChambeau (USA)

“I hope he will inspire us to victory. I think he’ll be a great force for us to get a lot of people on our side. I think it will be interesting and exciting to see how the crowd and everybody reacts. It’s going to be an electric environment.”

Sam Burns (USA)

“Yeah, I think it’s a huge honor to have our president come to this event, support our team. You know, this is about representing our country and representing the United States of America, and who better to represent that than the President. I think we are all excited.”

DON’T MISS:

Scottie Scheffler (USA)

“Yeah, I think our team as a whole, we’re very proud to be Americans. I think the flag means a lot to us. Being here in New York I think is very special as well.

“And to have the President here, it’s been a tough few weeks for our country with some of the stuff that’s been going on, and to have our president here and for us to represent the United States of America, albeit being in a golf tournament, is extremely important for us and we’re excited to be on home soil with the home crowd and we’re ready to get this tournament started.

“The president is kind of funny. He loves the game of golf, he loves supporting golfers, and I get a call or a text from him sometimes after wins. He just loves the game of golf, and he’s one of those guys when you’re around him, he does such a good job of, like, feeding confidence into everybody around him.

“That was one of the things I noticed a lot with the little bit of time I spent with him, is he treats everybody the same and treats people with the utmost respect.

“Whether you’re the person serving us lunch or the caddie on the golf course or the guy who’s the president of the club that we’re at, he treats everybody like they’re the greatest person in the world.

“I don’t think he has any plans to address us as a team, but I’m sure if things go well, we’ll hear from him this week.”

Keegan Bradley (USA Captain)

“No, definitely not (worried by any extra pressure). I’m deeply honored that the President of the United States is going to come support our team at the Ryder Cup.

“I think anytime you can be around a current President is a pretty phenomenal thing, but when you’re representing your country at a place like Bethpage Black in New York, having the President there to support you is something that is just absolutely incredible. I’m really grateful to him for doing that for us.”

Justin Rose (Europe)

“Yeah, obviously he’s going to bring certainly a lot of attention and patriotism to the event.

By all accounts, he’s going to be in – I don’t what I’ll say, but I don’t think he’s going to necessarily be on the tee box with us or roaming the course.

“So from that point of view, I think there will just be a lot of noise around it, but I’m not sure there will be the continued distraction of it. But again, I could be wrong, just based upon what I’ve heard, how they’re going to handle his movements around the property.

“Listen, it’s great for golf that he’s engaged in the game and obviously he brings a lot of eyeballs with him. Yeah, fan-wise, I’m sure Friday afternoon will be certainly very intense and entertaining.”

Asked if he would welcome him presenting the trophy in the event that they gained, he added: “100 percent, yeah, would love the opportunity to have that opportunity.

“Listen, I’m not sure he’s going to want to be on the stage congratulating the team that sort of wins in his backyard. But listen, of course, he’s the President, ultimate respect, and that would be a great opportunity.”

Robert MacIntyre (Europe)

“Again, I just play golf. I don’t – politics and stuff is out of my – I mean, I’m not bright enough, for one, to be worrying about politics. I’m worrying more about what goes on this week on the golf course.

“Yeah, as a European, we’ve got a job to do, and yeah, try and compete as hard as we can and hopefully win the Ryder Cup.”

Asked: “So you don’t find it a distraction?”, he replied: “It’s just another spectator.”

Tyrrell Hatton (Europe)

“I mean, I think it just shows how special the Ryder Cup is and what a sporting event it’s become.

“I mean, Trump loves golf, so it’s not really a surprise that he wants to be here and enjoy the atmosphere. “So yeah, I mean, it will be a good day, and I think everyone out there tomorrow will enjoy the atmosphere in one way or another. And I don’t see anything wrong with wanting to be a part of it.”

Luke Donald (Europe Captain)

“Yeah, I think anytime a sitting president wants to come to an event, it just shows how big the Ryder Cup is. You’ve got to see that as a mark of respect.

“President Trump is obviously a big supporter of golf and he knows a lot of the players this week and has met them before. I think you see it as that, as a mark of respect, that a sitting President wants to support an event when he has a very busy schedule. To find time for that shows something.”
