I’m respectfully asking everybody, no matter what political celebration you’re from, to spend an hour and watch President Trump ship his UN speech on YouTube (“Don rips U.N.’s ‘empty words,’ ” Sept. 24).
Trump is a great, one-of-a-kind, peace-loving one who will for sure make you proud should you watch this.

Well completed, President Trump — The United Nations is a money-grabbing joke that’s outlasted its welcome.

Trump’s innate means to provide a flawless one-hour speech with out a working teleprompter is really a reward to be marveled at. Heck, people freeze up when simply giving a wedding ceremony toast.
Most people hate public talking. But even the small share of those that don’t can be paralyzed with worry if their teleprompter went darkish on them.

Last week, we have been handled to our president’s newest world view: The UN isn’t dwelling up to its potential.
Never thoughts that he’s main the best way in ignoring the prevailing and well-established worldwide physique of legal guidelines that may go a long method in truly fulfilling that potential.
Blowing up boats for no matter motive appears to be OK with him.
Supporting the murders of people merely making an attempt to get food and water in Gaza appears acceptable as effectively.
Somehow, I believe a good quantity of world representatives on the UN make a more rational appraisal of the world.

During his speech on the UN, Trump proved that he’s untethered from actuality.
He embarrassed Americans by delivering a vitriolic, offended and insulting tirade. I used to be stunned that the member nation representatives didn’t stroll out within the center of his speech.
I’m additionally disenchanted that he obtained even a modicum of applause from attendees other than the cohort of cupboard members and advisers he introduced with him.

The Issue: Bjorn Lomborg’s argument that trillions spent on climate coverage can be utilized to battle poverty.
Bjorn Lomborg needs us to decide on between saving the planet and saving the poor — that’s nonsense (“Elite Climate Injustice,” PostOpinion, Sept. 23).
Spending money to help developing nations with clean vitality and climate resilience doesn’t deplete funds that battle poverty.
The key flaw in Lomborg’s argument is that it treats the worldwide economic system as zero-sum, when in actuality, climate motion and poverty alleviation could be complementary.
It’s not an either-or query. We can cut back poverty and help developing nations create climate-resilient economies.

I agree with Lomborg that lifting people out of poverty is nice. But we disagree on a number of factors.
Lomborg requires analysis to make renewable vitality more inexpensive. But wind and photo voltaic are among the many least costly types of vitality on the market. He additionally alleges that almost all emissions will come from China. But clean vitality sources, like photo voltaic and wind, helped China meet 84% of its electrical energy demand in 2024, and fossil fuel use is reducing.
Lomborg’s power minimization of the consequences of world warming apart, the general consensus is that many poor people will undergo, and die, in large numbers if we don’t rein in our carbon emissions.
