Call Clouseau!

If Inspector Jacques Clouseau had been round right now, these dangerous guys (“Sacré bleu! Louvre looted of gems,” Oct. 20) could be in jail by the weekend — simply a thought.

Beyond at W’mart

It’s great information that Beyond Meat goes to be offered at Walmart (“W’mart deal jolts Beyond,” Oct. 22).

I don’t care a lot about shares, however I assist something that may stop animal struggling and scale back greenhouse gases. And more people will possible buy Beyond Meat merchandise now that its stock is so widespread.

Long-term results

Rafael A. Mangual and Naomi Schaefer Riley’s column takes a myopic and short-sighted strategy to baby welfare coverage (“Saving Kids,” PostOpinion, Oct. 19).

Child welfare coverage could be straightforward if we may make choices primarily based on one knowledge level. But accountable policymaking additionally weighs the impression on children later.

Do baby safety investigations have enduring results? Do they make children more healthy within the long run? The cited research doesn’t reply these questions.

Research additionally reveals that the kid welfare system is traumatizing and causes many unfavourable results that ripple for years after an investigation.

The authors omit that the research itself says “a large body of evidence shows that both cash and in-kind transfers may have long-term benefits to children.” Strategies like financial assist are an important half of baby welfare coverage options in a system that, regrettably, can’t be solved with one knowledge level.

Figure-it-out math

New York’s new math tips recommend that the apply of math information and customary algorithms usually are not as useful as letting college students determine their own methods to do math (“NY does number on math,” Oct. 19).

I can title a few people who’ve “figured out” methods to do math: Pythagoras, Issac Newton and Leonhard Euler, to call a few. But they “figured it out” after many years of perseverance and analysis.

It’s exhausting enough for college students to know and retain what has been explicitly taught — why make it tougher?

Dems failed children

Here are 154,000 homeless public-school college students in New York City (“1 in 7 students without homes,” Oct. 21).

Of the scholars that do go to high school, many can’t learn, write or do math at their grade’s degree. This is the consequence of liberal New York politicians and union chiefs Michael Mulgrew and Randi Weingarten’s insurance policies.

They welcomed 238,000 illegals into our metropolis since 2022, disrupting colleges, health care and housing — what did they count on? Shame on Sen. Chuck Schumer, Rep. Hakeem Jeffries and Gov. Hochul and Mayor Adams. Our kids are our future and not one of the above provides a rattling about our youth.

Jan. 6er’s menace

A person who took half within the Jan. 6 Capitol riots however was later pardoned by President Trump has been arrested for threatening to “eliminate” New York Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (“Jan. 6er ‘targets’ Jeffries,” Oct. 22).

The MAGA minion just isn’t the primary pardoned Capitol rioter to be arrested on new, separate expenses. But he’s the primary to be charged with making a violent menace towards a member of Congress. What then will come of the costs? I predict, at worst, a slap on the wrist.
