“Outside of that, just wasn’t fast enough. That’s the bottom line. Outside of that we weren’t good enough to drive back through either way, but thought I would’ve had a chance if maybe I could’ve made that better earlier in the race.”
Meanwhile, Blaney additionally mentioned Penske’s Championship race absence. Asked if he was stunned, he replied: “Yes because I expect at least one of us to be in there. It stinks. It stinks we don’t have a chance to go for four in a row for Roger.
“Roger was here tonight, and was really wanting to see him in Victory Lane and celebrate it with him. Just not able to get it done and the championship streak for Penske ends.
“But that’s just the way it goes and we’ve just gotta rerack and try to be better for next year. That’s all you can do.”
