A person claims his Tesla rescued him from sure death by robotically swerving to dodge an approaching vehicle touring at 75 mph.
Clifford Lee was cruising down a freeway in New Mexico following Tesla’s annual shareholder assembly in Austin, Texas, at roughly 6:30 p.m. on Nov. 9, 2025.
He was working in full self-drive mode (FSD) from White Sands National Park, New Mexico, to Monument Valley, Arizona, and described circumstances as “pitch black” with “horrendous” driving circumstances.
Because of the horrible visibility, Clifford missed seeing that a truck had moved into his lane to go a tractor-trailer.
He acknowledged too late that the truck would not end the passing maneuver in time, and Clifford feared he was about to expertise a head-on crash at 75 mph.
However, his self-driving technology activated and steered his vehicle onto the shoulder.
His dashcam captured the incident, and Clifford offers Tesla credit for preserving his life — and acknowledged that if the 2 autos had crashed head-on, it may need been lethal.
