Novak Djokovic could potentially face off against Nick Kyrgios in the second round of Indian Wells, following a challenging draw that could lead him to the final.

The draw was finalized on Tuesday, with Djokovic also potentially meeting reigning champion Carlos Alcaraz in the quarter-finals.

Djokovic has been given a bye to the second round, where he will compete against either Kyrgios or a qualifier. Kyrgios, who is using a protected ranking for the tournament, is one of the few players who holds a winning record against Djokovic.

He has triumphed in two out of their three previous encounters, with his only loss occurring in the Wimbledon final in 2022.

Despite their tumultuous history, they are now friends, with Djokovic finding support in Kyrgios following his Australian Open ordeal in 2021.

The Canberra native felt Djokovic was unfairly treated regarding his vaccination stance and subsequent ban from playing in Melbourne.

If Djokovic advances past his second-round match, he could face Francisco Cerundulo or Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the third round, while a potential showdown with Alex de Minaur could occur in the fourth round.

In the quarter-finals, he is likely to meet Alcaraz, having been placed in the same half of the draw as the Spanish player. They recently faced each other in the Australian Open’s last eight, where Djokovic emerged victorious,

If Djokovic triumphs over Alcaraz once more, a semi-final showdown with Casper Ruud could be on the cards. Meanwhile, top seed Alexander Zverev could potentially face off in the final.
