Asked to call her greatest achievements since taking workplace in 2021, Gov. Kathy Hochul provided up an unbelievable reply — after which her workers made it worse by answering the inevitably criticism by bragging about how New York ranks because the forty fifth state on “affordability.”
Then again, Hochul’s minions had been attempting to cowl for the gov’s own clueless horn-tooting, as she advised Politico of her delight in “stimulating the economy after the pandemic” — when New York underneath Hochul lagged the nation first in ending COVID restrictions after which in recovering the roles misplaced when the lockdowns hit.
Worse, she claimed “the foundation of it all was reducing crime,” when governors bear little duty for native crimefighting and it took her years to wrestle even the smallest crime-cutting concessions from the Legislature.
Politico’s reporters dutifully ran to Rep. Elise Stefanik, the gov’s possible opponent subsequent fall, for remark; she slammed the gov for making “New York the most unaffordable state in the nation with the highest taxes, energy and utility prices.”
Ouch! It stings as a result of a lot of it’s clearly true.
Even more laughable was the reply from the gov’s marketing campaign crew, citing a US News & World Report rating that has New York “only” forty fifth on affordability, not fiftieth.

They additionally whined that the majority of New England has greater electrical energy prices — not mentioning that New York’s refusal to permit a natural-gag pipeline to achieve these states from Pennsylvania is a huge purpose why — as do distant Alaska and Hawaii and Gavin Newsom’s ultra-green California.
