The Issue: An ICE agent fatally capturing Alex Pretti, an ICU nurse and armed protester in Minneapolis.

Alex Pretti was a good man (“ICE kills activist at bust,” Jan. 25).

As an ICU nurse, he devoted himself to important, benevolent work.

He believed he might change the law by exhibiting up to a protest with a gun; but he had already influenced the law by probably voting for leaders whose leniency opened the door to fraud, looting, vandalism and anti-law dysfunction. He didn’t need to be belligerent or deliver a weapon to a so-called “peaceful protest.”

What actually shapes society is a dedication to a work ethic, which he had, and a respect for all people and for the law, which, sadly, he didn’t.

Frank Cambria

Staten Island

Just when a roiling, fraying nation most wants humane, caring and compassionate Americans like Renee Good and Alex Pretti, their lives are brutally ended by lawless law enforcement on the behest of probably the most corrupt, incompetent and deceitful president in United States historical past.

Chelsea, Mass.

Democrats’ hypocrisy is frustrating. They fan the flames by saying ICE is raiding colleges and church buildings however can’t identify one one who has been faraway from a college.

Yet they’ve no drawback when an indignant mob invades a church or somebody attends a “peaceful protest” with a gun.

The homicide of Pretti by masked ICE brokers is horrifying. In this national disaster, readability and fact matter.

First the information: Pretti was legally carrying a holstered firearm. Masked brokers knocked him down, seized his gun and executed him.

Deputy White House Chief of Staff Stephen Miller referred to as Pretti a terrorist, whereas masked federal brokers are those terrorizing Minnesotans. Stephen Miller speaks of an “invasion.” However, it’s the masked brokers who’ve invaded Minnesota on the federal authorities’s behest.

Now is a important time for all of us, together with media organizations, to stand up and repeat the reality.

Although Pretti’s death was tragic, pay no consideration to the lads backstage — Gov. Tim Walz and Mayor Jacob Frey — feigning outrage over ICE’s presence. This is merely a diversion, so the Trump administration seems to be the opposite means from the Somali fraud and kickbacks.

Thomas DeJulio

Delray Beach, Fla.

ICE is to not blame for Pretti’s death. There is no purpose to deliver a gun to a protest, until you’re searching for hassle.

It’s a disgrace what occurred, however it’s what it’s.

The Issue: JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon criticizing President Trump’s 10% credit-card cap.

Jamie Dimon is claiming catastrophe looms following proposals to cap credit-card rates of interest at 10%. This is full nonsense (“10% card cap a ‘disaster,’ ” Jan. 22).

People nonetheless need entry to credit. The answer is straightforward; keep the credit strains and charge the capped rate of interest.

Lower charges would help customers, not damage them, but Dimon frames it as a disaster, defending earnings over people. This is a excellent instance of a company chief placing self-interest above logic and equity.

Tom Cooney

Staten Island

Dimon chastises President Trump for suggesting a 10% cap on credit-card charges, so I assume he helps the 30% charges that almost all Mastercard or Visa playing cards charge.

Maybe Dimon grew up in an internal metropolis the place many residents used loan sharks for money to pay payments or playing money owed, and desires to legitimize the banks taking on the loan-shark companies.
