FOX Sports’ Mike Joy fought back tears as he paid tribute to NASCAR legend Greg Biffle, who died in a deadly airplane crash final December. Biffle was one of seven to die, alongside his spouse, two of his kids, and three others, after a Cessna 550 Citation II crashed in Statesville, North Carolina.

Following Biffle’s passing, his North Carolina home was the subject of a burglary, with $30,000 of cash and a backpack stolen. Guns and memorabilia were also taken.
Sheriff Darren Campbell revealed that the individual managed to gain entry to a safe inside the home. Campbell said that no arrests have been made and that no one else was in the home at the time of the alleged crimes.
“We’re working the case. We are ready on some digital proof,” Campbell said. He also added that interviews were being conducted.
After retiring from full-time competition, Biffle became better known for his humanitarian work. The 19-time NASCAR Cup winner flew his helicopter to help victims of Hurricane Helene in 2024.
The tribute video, played on the giant screens at Daytona International Speedway, celebrated Greg Biffle’s victories in the No. 16 Ford along with his humanitarian efforts. It included messages from former Roush Fenway Racing teammate Matt Kenseth, Roush Yates Engines CEO Doug Yates, close friend Cleetus McFarland, and his niece Jordyn Biffle, among others.
Fox commentators Kevin Harvick, Jamie McMurray, and Clint Bowyer also reflected on the loss of their friend and former Cup Series competitor during the broadcast. Harvick spoke about Biffle’s determination on the track, while McMurray became visibly emotional, recalling their time as teammates.
