Diary of disturbing disinformation and harmful delusions

This problem:

“I’d ask [President Trump] to name the starting lineup of the [Knicks’] 1993 championship team.” — Gov. Kathy Hochul, Wednesday

We say: Oops. In pushing the false declare that President Trump lied about being a Knicks fan, the gov uncovered her own ignorance, claiming the workforce received the NBA championship in 1993, when it didn’t even make the finals.

Then her press workplace pretended the goof was intentional, a “4D chess move” meant to entice Trump.

Has any New York governor been more lame

Spot the distinction:

“Joe, you did such a great job . . .  Four more years!” — Jill Biden, rallying together with her husband after his 2024 debate meltdown

vs.

“I was frightened, because . . . [I thought] he’s having a stroke.’ ” — Jill Biden in a CBS interview to air Sunday

We say: The 2024 debate eliminated any doubt Joe Biden was unfit to proceed as president, but Jill blithely pretended he was tremendous.

Now she admits she noticed the reality all alongside, and doesn’t even notice she’s made a self-damning confession.

This fantasy:

“Every day [the Iran] war goes on, we get weaker, they get stronger.” — Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), Tuesday

We say: Uh, the “war” isn’t really “going on”; the cease-fire largely halted it.

And, on each day that goes by, Iran loses a half-billion bucks in export income, its oil-storage disaster grows more dire, its troops go unpaid, its currency plunges additional, costs soar and sanctions grip tighter.

That’s strengthening Iran?

This pack of lies:

“Israel has used its strength . . . to bury the two-state solution . . . [and impose] devastating collective punishment on the people of Gaza.” — Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.), in The New York Times, Tuesday

We say: False on each level: Israel merely defended itself after Palestinians rejected a two-state answer and massacred harmless Israelis.

Nor did it collectively punish Gazans, however took larger casualties to goal solely Hamas perpetrators.
