Thriving kids

Kudos for Kirsten Fleming’s glorious piece (“Kids with Down’s vanishing,” June 9).

Back within the ’60s my buddy’s mom gave delivery to a baby with Down Syndrome. The physician instantly informed her that he’d “take care of the baby.” She declined. That child, Grace, just lately turned 60. She’s been gainfully employed by a non-profit group and is beloved by a whole lot. Imperfect? Maybe. But maybe more excellent than the remaining of us.

Pope Leo, lefty

It appears as if Pope Leo is much more taken with advocating for far-left causes, comparable to welcoming unlawful immigrants and obsessing about climate change, than proclaiming the salvation by means of Jesus Christ (“Pope Leo’s Dubious Migrant Misstep,” Daniel McCarthy, PostOpinion, June 9).

I believe that the Chicago native would have been more snug staying at home and operating for mayor or governor on a far-left platform than pretending to be the Vicar of Christ.

Troubled teenagers

Karmelo Anthony was discovered guilty of murdering a fellow teen and sadly, tales like this are reported all throughout the nation (“Karmelo guilty in teen slay,” June 10).

Reporters ought to examine how these youth are raised. People are born and then created by their atmosphere. The more we examine how these people are created, the more curiosity there can be in making change within the environments that created them.

DSA’s risks

Stu Smith’s column on the Democratic Socialists of America was informative and horrifying (“Down a radical ‘rabbit’ hole,” June 10).

To assume America has a fully subversive group brazenly working to destroy us from within could be very troubling. The DSA is slowly turning into an accepted political occasion. We are electing people with out understanding the sinister motives they’re harboring and the un-American concepts they communicate.

Retire the horses

The death of one more New York City carriage horse serves as a tragic reminder that the time has come to retire these majestic animals from our metropolis streets (“Carriage horse dies in Cent. Pk.,” June 10).

There was a time when many people couldn’t think about a world with out elephants in circuses. Yet the elimination of elephants from the Ringling circus finally occurred — and most would agree it was long overdue. The identical precept applies as we speak to New York City’s carriage-horse industry.

It’s time to retire these horses with dignity and help carriage drivers and homeowners transition to more humane and sustainable methods of making a dwelling.

NFL nonsense

There are many issues occurring on this nation that deserve our representatives’ consideration — the NFL ought to be on the back of the road (“Blitzing screen,” Business, June 11).

When we voted for change, we didn’t imply the channel. The DC swamp is getting deeper. Fraud, inflation, crime, struggle and unlawful immigration ought to be Congress’ fundamental concern. Not losing the people’s money on the NFL’s streaming revenues, one thing the Federal Communications Commission ought to deal with.
