Jail visits for judges: Letters – Latest News
The Issue: A requirement for New York sentencing judges to go to a jail or jail not less than as soon as a 12 months.
It’s mistaken to mandate New York judges to go to jails and prisons not less than as soon as a 12 months (“NY judges ‘jailed,’ ” June 17).
This would prejudice judges in favor of defendants and convicted criminals. What in regards to the crime victims? Why not order the judges to attend not less than one wake and funeral or burial for a homicide sufferer? Or spend a day with an orphan?
Yes, the jails are powerful locations, however this could not shade how a choose guidelines.

The requirement for sentencing judges in New York to go to jails and prisons yearly is reinforcement of the extensively held perception that Democrats in New York City and throughout the nation firmly help criminals over law-abiding residents, taxpayers, and victims of crime.
The new law doesn’t say that judges might be required to go to graves of victims, households of victims or youngsters left motherless. Victims don’t depend when the Democrats imagine the prison could also be subject to day-old milk. When is that this madness going to finish?

The rule that judges should go to prisons is an effort to generate sympathy for thieves, rapists, murders and all these committing crimes in opposition to others.
A more balanced method could be to have these judges go to the morgue to view the our bodies of harmless homicide victims, attend group periods of the victims of rape and abuse or spend time with the households of police officers slain on obligation.

Chief Judge Rowan Wilson ought to rethink his pro-criminal mandate that state judges should go to prisons and jails every year to keep them “better connected to what transpires after sentencing.”
I recommend Rowan instruct judges to go to the hospitals and cemeteries of victims of the out-of-control crime that put these savages in jail within the first place. That is, of course, offered they really go to jail in any respect.

Parrish, Fla.
If judges are going to go to anybody, they need to meet with victims’ households over time to see how crimes have impacted their lives. Then they might higher perceive what these criminals have accomplished.

The Issue: Mixed martial arts occasion UFC Freedom 250 hosted on the South Lawn of the White House.
I’ve by no means been a fan of UFC preventing, however watching the show on the White House has turned my head in a totally different direction — It was fabulously spectacular (“Big birthday ‘bash,’ ” June 16).
I’m prepared to wager good money that even the staunchest progressive liberals like Al Sharpton — who complained that such an occasion invoked recollections of slaves sparring to the death— had been secretly watching and cheering within the privateness of their own houses.

A knockout in a UFC combat is when one fighter is unconscious. The winner of a canine combat is when one canine is critically injured. Yet canine preventing is a felony. Ironic?
Despite its reputation, the president truly selling this barbaric sport was unseemly and inappropriate.

Alan Rechtschaffen’s protection of the UFC combat on the White House was mistaken (“Trump’s UFC Bout: Behind the Fight,” PostOpinion, June 13).
This disgusting no-holds-barred preventing belongs back within the Roman gladiator days and will by no means have been held on White House grounds.
It’s uncommon I agree with most any Democrat, however Rep. Don Beyer had it proper: It’s a sacrilege to the White House.
