The Issue: The rise of democratic socialists, regardless of Francesca Hong’s loss in Wisconsin.

To those that smugly celebrated the defeat of lunatic socialist Francesca Hong in Wisconsin: She nonetheless received over 300,000 votes and misplaced by a naked nubbins (“Socialism’s persona non-starter,” Isaac Schorr, Aug. 13).

As November approaches, vigilance by these of us who’re sane will show to be as consequential to our nation as any army marketing campaign.

Bob Heier

Estero, Fla.

Republicans reportedly spent thousands and thousands of {dollars} selling DSA candidate Francesca Hong, since they thought she can be simpler to beat within the November election. Yet she misplaced anyway.

You say institution Democrats lastly exhaled after holding their breaths, however they’d be clever to carry off the champagne celebrations (“Wisconsin Was Just One Battle,” Editorial, Aug. 13).

Both events’ institution wings are in panic mode as a result of they know public sentiment is just not on their aspect.

J. J. Crovatto

Ramsey, NJ

Millions from everywhere in the world have come to America for 250 years to stay free and prosper, unencumbered by dictating despots and authorities intervention. Now the democratic socialists are telling you proper to your face that they need to destroy the Constitution by getting rid of our type of authorities.

Gregory Topliff

Aiken, SC

If The Post desires to stay a critical newspaper, it has to stop with its disingenuous, deceptive makes an attempt to show each candidates and espoused philosophies into what seems like one other communist scare reminiscent of the Fifties.

We have had “socialism” right here for many years: Social Security, Medicare, pupil loans, the record goes on. Just as a result of a politician has socialist leanings doesn’t make her or him a communist, identical to having conservative views doesn’t make one a Nazi.

Lou Maione

Manhattan

The Democratic Socialists of America can’t carry themselves to denounce Russia or China’s murderous authoritarian regimes or Iran’s homicidal theocracy. Yet they search to emulate and recreate such systems right here.

Well, the piper all the time calls to be paid, in energy, money and blood. Just ask the Ukrainian, Cuban or Venezuelan peoples. They can let you know how this film ends.

The Issue: New York magazine’s problem that included a declare of “Israeli genocide.”

New York magazine’s cowl calling New York “Habibi City” is one other highly effective instance of the rampant unfold of anti-Jewish vitriol ensuing within the terrifying rise of antisemitic hate crimes beneath Mayor Mamdani (“ ‘Jew hating’ NY magazine,” Aug. 13).

How a lot money did the magazine get to sell its soul and run this hateful article about Jews and Israel?

Betty Schwartz

Livingston, NJ

New York magazine was once a great magazine: attention-grabbing articles, great visuals and enjoyable puzzles. Over the years it’s turn out to be just like the New York Times — unreadable and crammed with hate in opposition to Jews and Israel.

It’s arduous to think about any first rate and fair-minded individual choosing up that rag.

J.J. Levine

Miami Beach, Fla.

After that “hit piece” on Israel and Jews beneath the guise of celebrating Arab and Muslim tradition in New York City, I’d not maintain my breath for New York magazine to actually cowl the plight of the estimated 850,000 Jews who had been pressured to flee Arab and Muslim international locations after 1948.

While most of these Jews fled to Israel, some of their descendants characterize half of the multicultural tapestry of the Big Apple. I suppose it doesn’t match the biased magazine’s narrative.

Robert Semel
