A Dutch-style roundabout put in in Cambridge back in 2020 was closed just days after it was put in. The £2.3million roundabout was broken by a hit-and-run driver and was closed for 3 nights back in August 2020. The distinctive roundabout provides particular precedence to cyclists and pedestrians and was a first for the nation when it was fitted.

“You would be looking for vehicles traversing in front of you while a cyclist can be coming at high speed from your left.”

They pressured that severe incidents had fallen by round 46%, suggesting the roundabouts could also be efficient in boosting health and security.

However, Caitlin Taylor, highway security supervisor at RoSPA pressured that there have been considerations drivers may very well be confused on the new roundabouts.
