Alex Pereira was outclassed by Mogamed Ankalaev as the Brazilian lost his lightweight title at UFC 313.

At T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Pereira struggled to deal with Ankalaev’s well-rounded skillset. Following a tense first round, Akalaev rocked Pereira with a fierce left hand late in the second. The champion found himself retreating on his heels for much of the contest while the Russian wore him down with his grappling.

With everything on the line entering the championship round, Pereira landed a fierce head kick but ultimately was unable to prevent defeat. Ankalaev was handed the unanimous decision victory much to the disdain of the crowd in Sin City, who serandaded him with boos.

Rafael Fiziev started well in his rematch with Justin Gaethje – sending him to the canvas twice in the early stages – but the American took control as the fight went on. He dropped Fiziev with a fierce uppercut and, just as they did at UFC 286, the judges scored in favor of Gaethje.

Earlier, Ignacio Bahomandes collected the biggest win of his burgeoning UFC career with a first-round submission win over Jalin Turner, who appeared to call time on his career in the immediate aftermath. Expected to be a striking battle, the lightweight fight ended swiftly as Bahamondes, on his back, worked to full guard and attacked his opponent with a triangle choke, shifting his angle to sink the hold in deeper and draw out the tap.

In the headline women’s contest between two Brazilian stars, former title challenger Amanda Lemos staved off the challenge of rising star Iasmin Lucindo, whose four-fight winning run came to an end. Lemos put the 23-year-old on the canvas in each of the first two rounds, which helped her earn the unanimous victory and a key rebound win.

But the moment of the night arguably came as Mauricio Ruffy knocked out King Green with a stunning spinning wheel kick that connected flush with his face. After tagging the veteran with a right hand, Ruffy feinted a lead hook and rotated, crushing King’s head and knocking him out cold.

It was an incredible highlight, and one of the great knockouts in recent memory. Ruffy is now 3-0 in the UFC with a pair of finishes and is on the cusp of entering the rankings.

Earlier in the night, Joshua Van, Mairon Santos, and Ozzy Diaz secured victories after their fights against Rei Tsuruya, Francis Marshall, and Djorden Santos respectively on points. Brunno Ferreria forced Armen Petrosyan to tap out, while Carlos Leal earned the stoppage over Alex Morono.
