Indiana icon blasts Pat McAfee for treatment of | Sports News

Pat McAfee and the Pacers crowd had been blasted by Indiana icon John Mellencamp for how they handled a handful of the New York Knicks superstar followers.

McAfee was in attendance to watch the Pacers take a 3-1 collection lead over the Knicks in Gainbridge Fieldhouse, days after his spouse, Samantha McAfee, booed Tom Brady on the Indianapolis 500. As a former punter for the Indianapolis Colts, McAfee continues to be a presence locally.

However, how he handled Ben Stiller, Spike Lee and Timothee Chalamet rubbed Mellencamp the improper manner. On social media, the 73-year-old hitmaker posted a message expressing his displeasure with the phrases the previous NFL participant mentioned when given the microphone to hype up the gang.

“The Knicks/Pacers games have been very entertaining for anyone who likes basketball or sports,” his assertion started. “I attended Game 4 in Indianapolis.

“‘Hoosier Hospitality’ … I used to be embarrassed when anyone, below whose direction I do not know, referred to as out some of the people who made the journey from New York to assist their crew – and in flip, assist our crew.

“The audience booed these people. I’d say that was not Hoosier Hospitality. One could only say it’s poor, poor sportsmanship. I was not proud to be a Hoosier, and I’ve lived here my entire life. On behalf of most Hoosiers, I would like to apologize for our poor behavior. I’m sure the Pacers had nothing to do with this smackdown.”

A fan agreed with Mellencamp that the Pacers crowd confirmed a lack of decorum, posting: “Good on you JM. Totally classless to call out a couple fans publicly as SOBs. They are not SOBs, they just like their team. Same as the Pacers fan who got trash dumped on him. We’re better than that.”

However, different followers had been much less than enthused with Mellencamp’s message, believing that not with the ability to boo opposing face impugns how sports activities must be performed and seen. “I can’t believe this has to be said but booing the opposition is part the fun of sports.
