No self-serve gas in New Jersey: Letters – Latest News
The Issue: A new invoice that will introduce self-service pumps to New Jersey’s gas stations.
Tommy Behnke’s article about Jerseyites pumping their own gas is laughable (“Let Jersey Pump!” PostOpinion, Aug. 3).
First of all, most of us like having the gas attendant pump the gas. I don’t learn about you, however I like not having to stand in the rain, cold or snow to pump gas.
Second, gas costs may be discounted for self-service for a short period to keep prospects, however would quickly be introduced back up to regular costs. Have you ever seen cheaper costs on the grocery store for self-check out? Plus, the removing of full service places people out of work.
Lastly, simply have a look at New York, the place everybody pumps their own gas. The costs aren’t cheaper for anybody doing self-service, so let’s depart properly enough alone.

Hey, Tommy, wake up! This is Jersey. Gas stations received’t decrease costs for self-serve prospects as you declare. They will as an alternative raise costs for attendant-pumped gas. Didn’t you see “The Sopranos”? I acquired a bridge to sell you.

The price per gallon of gasoline has little to do with how it’s pumped into a vehicle’s tank.
New Jersey, now and for a long whereas, has probably the most moderately priced gas in the area. New Yorkers and Pennsylvanians — who reside close to the Garden State and have self-service gas — drive there to tank up.
Also, thousands and thousands of Americans can keep in mind when all gas stations supplied full service. Outdated? Since when is comfort outdated? Try being aged or handicapped and needing to pump your own gas.
The Motorist Fueling Choice and Convenience Act, whereas promising selection on the pump, gives no reassurance that it isn’t a camel’s nostril underneath the tent for common self-service.

I usually drive from Rockland County to New Jersey simply to get gas, not solely as a result of I don’t need to pump it myself, however as a result of it’s cheaper.
The editorial means that pump-it-yourself gas will save prospects money. But received’t it merely encourage Jersey to increase its gas tax to New York and different states’ ranges?

The Issue: The announcement of the new LA-based California Post, which is able to launch early subsequent 12 months.
Thank you for placing a massive smile on my face. I can’t wait till you come out with the Los Angeles counterpart to the New York Post (“Coast to coast Post,” Aug. 5).
There’s a lot corruption right here in town so that you can expose. For instance, I do know of an condominium building that was offered for $6 million then resold for $9 million a month later to be made into a homeless shelter. I’d like to know whose pockets acquired lined.

Dear New York Post Editors: I’m wishing you the best, however you’ve gotten your work cut out for you.
Common-sense journalism in California? With the politicians they’ve in place, it makes you surprise if they will even learn over there. The pols are taking a stunning state and turning it into a dumpster fire!
Nobody needs to go to — a lot much less reside — there, so good luck bringing some sanity to the state. And don’t overlook your hometown. It appears like we need help, too.

I spend a lot of time in southern California. Having The California Post on sale at my native Ralphs or Albertsons is a dream come true. I can solely think about the primary California Post headline: “Stuck on the 405? Read The Post or watch the Bassmaster.”
