Fire chief’s outburst and more: Letters – Latest News
Lay off the chief
There isn’t a dad or mum alive who hasn’t misplaced their mood with an unruly baby, a lot in the best way that North Babylon fire chief Peter Alt did the opposite day (“Fire chief curses out kid, 10,” Aug. 7).
This was not the primary time firefighters had been known as to rein on this woman.
It’s unhappy that her dad and mom have needed to make these calls, and I can solely think about Alt’s degree of frustration.
I’m sure he regrets dropping his composure, however skewering a public servant for being human shouldn’t be all the time the answer.

Battery betrayal
Conceived underneath Gov. Nelson Rockefeller within the late Sixties, Battery Park City changed a mile of deserted, rotting piers between Battery Park and Canal Street with new housing, financial establishments and civic services, together with a mile-long pedestrian stroll alongside the Hudson River and decrease Manhattan harbor (“Redo assault on Battery,” Steve Cuozzo, Aug. 7).
To learn that Wagner Park, one of essentially the most scenic and utilized components of that deliberate neighborhood, has been disrupted by the Battery Park City Authority is most upsetting and disheartening. Can’t this authority go away well-enough alone?

New York City’s new facility affords tailor-made assist to help stabilize their lives and transfer in direction of everlasting housing.
Kudos to the town for offering needed companies for this weak population.

EPA’s errors
Judge Glock argues that the Clean Air Act shouldn’t be used to handle greenhouse gasoline air pollution as a result of no one was conscious of climate change in 1970 (“Don’s CO2 Rollback Restores EPA Sanity,” PostOpinion, Aug. 7).
This is a blatant misreading of the law. The Clean Air Act has a broad definition of “air pollutant.” Greenhouse gases are explicitly known as out as air pollution within the laws as amended by Congress in 2022.
The law additional states that the EPA should regulate pollution “which may reasonably be anticipated to endanger public health or welfare.”
There is a near-universal consensus that greenhouse gasoline emissions endanger public health.
Just open your eyes and have a look at the heat waves, wildfires, droughts and killer floods we’ve seen in 2025.
The EPA’s proposed repeal of the greenhouse gasoline laws is a reckless act by an administration on a campaign to unwind essential environmental protections.

‘Puberty Palace’
My suggestion for DC’s juvenile delinquents is to spherical them up and begin a particular facility known as “Puberty Palace” (“Capital’s minor threat,” Aug. 7).
They’ll have a distinctive place of their own, simply not on our streets!
