The Issue: The Post’s exposés on govt salaries on the Central Park Conservancy and 9/11 Museum.

The fats cats are definitely raking it in at tax-exempt nonprofits, and The Post’s exposés have been particularly ironic for coming so close to Labor Day (“Verdant pastures,” Sept. 2).

The soft jobs and inflated salaries of Park Conservancy and 9/11 Memorial execs make blindingly clear the distinction between doing good and doing properly.

Bill Marsano

Manhattan

The Post devoted a cowl web page to an assault on the management of the Central Park Conservancy, which rescued Central Park from a state of decay and made it into the best city park on the planet.

The compensation packages cited are by no means extraordinary within the aggressive New York market when managing an enterprise of the scope of Central Park with unquestioned success.

In reality, the management of the Conservancy has produced an superb return on investment in making Central Park a wonderful amenity for all and an financial engine for the town. To assault those that have contributed a lot to a optimistic narrative of unimaginable success is, to put it mildly, ignorant and damaging.

Stephen Sherrill

Manhattan

In some circumstances, massive nonprofits give their staff and govt workers ridiculously high salaries. Politicians really feel they’re doing a good job for the neighborhood. Usually, the people that they owe favors get the job.

There is little or no oversight and no pores and skin within the sport. It’s a ripoff for taxpayers. Private possession is the one approach to go. Private firms present the mandatory companies and are held accountable. Nonprofits might care much less — they’re a rip-off.

Robert Rosenberg

Manhattan

You New York City voters need to be proud of yourselves for electing Democratic politicians who love to provide away your tax {dollars}. Thank God for The Post for uncovering the salaries which might be given to the 9/11 nonprofit commissioners and the Central Park executives.

Donald Coles

Boynton Beach, Fla.

Millions for millionaires? Smells like cronyism. Perhaps get rid of parasites like Central Park Conservancy CEO Elizabeth Smith and use the money for twenty-four/7 security, so all of us can benefit from the park safely after darkish.

Mel Young

Lawrence

The Issue: Michael Goodwin’s argument that New York City wants a new mayor like Rudy Giuliani.

Rudy Giuliani might have been a great mayor of New York City, however the Medal of Freedom is meant to be awarded to “individuals who have made especially meritorious contributions to the security or national interests of the United States” (“We now need a mayor like Rudy,” Michael Goodwin, Sept. 3).

On Jan. 6, 2021, Giuliani helped incite the Capitol rebel by warming up the group for Donald Trump’s “If you don’t fight like hell, you’re not going to have a country” remark along with his own statements: “Let’s have trial by combat” and “We’re going to fight to the very end.”

The solely medal Giuliani deserves to obtain is a “Medal of Incitement.”

Richard Siegelman

Plainview

If you’re outdated enough, you’re fortunate to have witnessed true management and the likelihood of a great New York City underneath Rudy Giuliani. Gone have been the open-air drug customers and fare beaters, and the sense of dread one feels at present whereas working in or visiting the town.

New York thrived underneath the management of Giuliani and Mike Bloomberg, however it all unraveled rapidly when incompetent Bill de Blasio took workplace. The slide continues at present. One can solely think about what’s in store underneath the unqualified, inexperienced socialist Zohran Mamdani.

Michael D’Auria

Bronxville
