Nissan is recalling more than 19,000 US vehicles over the potential risk of batteries catching fire whereas quickly charging, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration stated Friday.

The lithium-ion batteries within the recalled vehicles might have extreme lithium deposits within their cells, rising electrical resistance and resulting in fast heating of the batteries, authorities stated.

The overheating may trigger a fire, rising the risk of harm, they added.
