Coco Gauff shares highlight of Oscars as two – Sports News
Tennis star Coco Gauff was the most prominent athlete in attendance at last night’s Oscar. Despite her humility. other stars in attendance knew who the 20-year-old former US Open winner was.
When asked what her highlight of the night was, Gauff answered: “Meeting Samuel L Jackson and Whoopi Goldberg back to back and them actually knowing who I was.”
“They were just like, they were big fans and Miss Whoopi, she’s launching a women’s coverage network and she [said] ‘I would love for you to be part of that,'” she continued.
“I just love her and she’s always said good things about me on her show ‘The View’ and obviously Samuel L Jackson I’ve seen tweet about me…I just didn’t think they would recognize me because that was so long ago, that was years ago. Just the fact that they did I was like ‘oh my goodness’.”
Gauff wasn’t the only member of her family cozying up with Hollywood’s best: her mom posted photos on her Instagram alongside Goldberg and Jackson.
She’ll face heavy competition in the face of Iga Swiatek, Aryna Sabalenka, and 2025 Australian Open winner Madison Keys (amongst others).
Dimoldenberg also asked if the former U.S. Open winner was a competitive person. “Definitely,” she said.
“But more when it comes to like on court stuff. Off the court, I mean like board and stuff. UNO, I get a lot of fight for that, but [for] this I’m just here for the vibes, just enjoying it and just trying to take it all in.”
