Amazon’s Ring says it’s canceling its video doorbell partnership with police tech provider Flock Safety — following extreme backlash over a Super Bowl advert that depicted a “surveillance state,” within the eyes of some critics.
The industrial touted the power of Ring doorbells to reunite households with their misplaced canines utilizing a function known as “Search Party.” Owners can add photographs of their misplaced pets to the app, which is able to launch the function and use AI to scan neighborhood Ring cameras for matching photographs.

“This one’s only for dogs, ‘cause we said it was. We kind of just did this, and we didn’t ask anyone, because we can. Privacy is a big word, and it’s boring, and it’s frankly anti-dog.”

Ring stated it was scrapping the partnership as a result of it “would require significantly more time and resources than anticipated.”
The company stated it didn’t ship any Ring digicam footage to Flock because the deal by no means formally launched. Flock instructed The Post the canceled deal was a mutual resolution.
