Brad Keselowski urged NASCAR prime brass to instantly induct Kyle Busch into the Hall of Fame following his tragic passing on the age of 41.

The NASCAR world was surprised on Thursday when Busch’s household confirmed that the Richard Childress Racing driver had died after being hospitalized for a “severe illness.” He is survived by his spouse, Samantha, and their two kids, Brexton and Lennix.

In an official assertion launched on Saturday, his household revealed that Busch died from pneumonia that escalated into sepsis. “The medical evaluation provided to the Busch Family concluded that severe pneumonia progressed into sepsis, resulting in rapid and overwhelming associated complications,” the assertion learn. “The Family asks for continued understanding and privacy during this difficult time.”

As tributes proceed to pour in for Busch from throughout the motorsports group, Keselowski expressed his need to see the two-time Cup Series champion immediately immortalized within the Hall of Fame.

“I’ve heard and read a lot of different ideas, and there’s some that you like more than others,” he stated. “Probably the best one that I know right now that I would like to see is something with effect to the Hall of Fame and so forth. I understand there’s a lot of things to work through on that. But it’s very clear Kyle’s a first-ballot Hall of Famer and I don’t know why that needs to wait another year.”

Maybe one day competing in the Truck Series against each other when we were done with Cup. Obviously, that’s not going to be the case now.”

“I flew with Kyle Busch on the way to Dover last Friday and those are things I never thought I would say three, five, 10 years ago. So, I think it was on that path. I don’t have any great stories to tell, but it’s sad to not see that through. Whatever loss I have there, honestly, pales in comparison to many others, so I don’t want to overplay that, but it’s the reality.”
