Chase Briscoe is feeling the strain ahead of Sunday’s Bank of America Roval 400, wishing the make-or-break elimination race was being held elsewhere.
Briscoe is seventh within the standings heading into the ultimate race of the Round of 12, sitting eight factors clear of bubble man Joey Logano and 21 factors ahead of first man out Ross Chastain.
Briscoe, who certified in eighth place for Sunday’s race at Charlotte Motor Speedway’s Road Course, is pleased with the efficiency of his No.19 Toyota in latest weeks. But he has dangerous reminiscences of the Roval structure, together with his Cup Series title goals being ended there final season.

“Then it’s going to get flipped, and you’re going to be starting 20th to 30th. At the ovals, it’s kind of more natural, and you kind of stay around the track position you’ve had, whereas this weekend, the whole field is going to flip it on you, other than the playoff guys.
“So, then they all start back there, and you see it [get crazy] in Turn 7 and Turn 1 – all the corners where stuff can happen. It’s tough one this weekend. I’d definitely rather go to a more traditional place for a cut race, but it’s exciting to watch, I know that.”
Tyler Reddick, in the meantime, is aware of he wants a victory to outlive Sunday’s elimination and make the Round of Eight, and he gave himself the best potential probability by qualifying on pole place.
