Bubba Wallace continues antagonizing his NASCAR | Sports News

Bubba Wallace asserted that he’s paying little consideration to his detractors after coasting down victory lane at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Last week, Wallace narrowly fended off Kyle Larson within the last levels of the Brickyard 400 en path to snapping his 100-race winless streak. On the heels of the long-awaited victory, he shared an emotional second with his spouse and son earlier than asserting that the skin noise no longer impacts him. Meanwhile, the legendary Richard Petty refused to congratulate him for his win. 

“It don’t matter. I’m already winning at life,” he declared. “I got the best wife, the best kid. People are always going to say something. I am excited to see how far the goalposts move, so I get to go and chase that now.”

Wallace as soon as again took goal at his critics who “have no idea how much” he’s “winning in life” whereas chatting with reporters forward of Sunday’s Iowa Corn 350 Powered by Ethanol.

“I don’t care, I got the win,” the No. 23 Toyota driver stated when requested if he’s paid consideration to the discourse surrounding the Brickyard 400.

“I did not want to end it under rain delay because of the social side of things. I want to go out and fight for this and give it my all, run out of gas, or whatever it is. I told myself that sitting on pit road to just stay ready because we will go back racing. It doesn’t matter what Bubba Wallace does in the world, the goalposts will keep moving, and that’s ok. I don’t mind the extra work, but they have no idea how much I’m winning in life and [I] don’t have the time in the day to try to explain it to them so it’s fine.”

With his spot within the NASCAR Cup Series playoffs now secured, Wallace conceded that he’s hardly involved with his efficiency over the ultimate 4 regular-season races. “I may care much less what occurs this subsequent 4 weeks,” he stated. “It also gives you a chance to go push yourself and try different things and see if there is any speed related to that.

“You kind of start out the year that way, but every point matters and Denny [Hamlin, 23XI team owner] has been very adamant about that the last couple of months and put ourselves in this spot. After Chicago, it was unfortunate how that played out. All of it [was] my doing.

“My wife was very upset with me. It was eye-opening to me, she basically said, ‘Get your stuff together. I don’t want to see you in the spot you’ve been for so many years.’ I said ‘I’ll win Indy, there you go.’ I’ve never been in this spot, well see how practice goes. But if we’re 30th, I don’t care. If we qualify 35th, I don’t care. We’re locked in. The team might be mad at me, but I’m going to try some weird stuff the next four weeks.”
